FAQs
How many sizes do you offer in trucks?
We provide 17’, 20’, 24’, 26’, 28’ and 53’ tractor trailers. 20 ft and 26 ft trucks come with tailgates. We can also provide multiple trucks on a single job.
Why should I use a Moving Company instead of a broker?
Moving brokers act as middlemen between the person who is moving and the moving company. Brokers do not do the actual moving and typically do not own trucks or moving equipment, or have a professional moving staff. A moving company will have trucks and employs movers to perform your move.
Why do I need an estimate?
An estimate helps you understand the moving costs ahead of time so that there are no surprises on the day of move. Make sure to receive a written estimate.
What do you need to know to offer me a basic moving quote?
We offer two types of quotes – hourly and flat. For an hourly quote, we just need to know rough description of the amount of stuff in order to ascertain the size of truck and number of movers needed.
For a flat price, we need to know everything from approximate number of boxes to every piece of furniture. In addition to the items, we would need to know – number of flights of stairs, if you need packing services, if you have any specialty items to be moved like pianos, gun safe, hot tub or pool table, if we would be able to park our moving truck in front of your home at origin and destination, if you need dismantling and assembling, etc.
When is the best time to book a move?
We suggest that you book three to four weeks in advance. If planning in advance is not possible, we will do our best to accommodate last-minute moves. Based on our availability, we may be able to accommodate moves on a one-day notice.
What forms of payment do you accept?
For your convenience, we accept credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express), certified check, Interac e-Transfer, money order, or cash. No personal checks are accepted.
Should I get a babysitter for moving day?
If possible, we recommend leaving the kids with a babysitter, friends, or relatives on moving day to free up your time for the move.
Should I get a pet sitter?
For their safety and your peace of mind, we recommend placing your pets in a kennel or leaving them with neighbours for the day. If that’s not an option, pets should be put in the backyard or a separate room where the movers will not need access.
How do you calculate the time taken for the job?
The clock starts running once our movers arrive at your pick-up address, and the hourly rate continues through loading, transit to your destination, and unloading. The clock stops at your drop-off location once the truck is empty and all set-up tasks are completed. Exceptions may apply to jobs, if discussed earlier, in which the distance between loading and unloading is more than an hour.
Is there anything else that I am billed for?
Apart from our fee, the customer is responsible for all parking tickets and downtime (waiting for the elevator or key for the new property to be available, traffic, inspection of belongings upon delivery, waiting for any credit card charges or Interac e-transfers to go through, etc.).
How do I pack my clothes?
When you book us, please ask our agent for the amount of wardrobe boxes that you need. This service is complimentary.
